I'm a native Albertan and a newly arrived, proud resident of Spruce Grove.

I am a candidate for the Conservative Party of Canada nomination in Sturgeon River-Parkland.

I'm a husband, a father of four, and a small-business owner. I have been a proud member of the Conservative Party of Canada since 1986 and have worked at the national and grassroots level of our Party during that time. I was a Conservative leadership candidate in the contest that elected Andrew Scheer as our Leader on May 27th.

My paternal grandparents were Icelandic farmers and fishermen in Manitoba. My maternal grandparents were Ukrainian immigrants who worked in the coal mines of Drumheller, where I was born, and then settled in Edmonton.

I grew up in Grande Prairie, where my Dad, a former RCMP officer, founded the minor hockey leagues. As a kid I threw hay bales, dug ditches and played baseball in the summer, hunted ducks and geese in the fall, and played hockey on an outdoor rink all winter. I won a national hockey championship with the University of Alberta Golden Bears in 1974-75 (back row, top left in the picture below). And I was a member of the Edmonton Tigers 1978 national men's baseball championship team.

I spent 10 years in Europe playing professional hockey, going to school, working and raising my family, and becoming fluently bilingual.

I moved to Vancouver in 1986, where I have spent the past 30 years in the investment industry, helping finance leading growth companies across Canada and in Sturgeon River-Parkland. Since 2003, I have been President of Peterson Capital (, which has offices in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Montreal, Geneva, and "now" Spruce Grove.

In August of this year, my wife, Irish, and I returned home to my Alberta roots, moving to Spruce Grove. We have with us our two Golden Retrievers, "Smooch" and "Beau". We love it here, and win or lose this nomination contest, this will be our home.

We are looking forward to meeting you, hearing your concerns and issues, and helping us understand what is important to you.

In return, I am offering my business and political experience and deep desire to serve Sturgeon River-Parkland residents as your Member of Parliament and Your Strong, Conservative Voice in Ottawa.

Thank you for the opportunity to meet you, learn more about you, and seek your support.
